
Raza Rizvi
Raza co-founded the first dedicated Technology, Data and IP-focused team in the Middle East. He qualified in London, advised on high-profile contentious (including appellate) and non-contentious matters across his core areas before moving to the Middle East. He has been based permanently in the region since 2007 and is a trusted advisor to IP / Data-rich businesses in highly regulated sectors.
Raza leads a team of data and technology law specialists across the region and his own core practice includes advising on complex commercial arrangements, data rights and obligations (particularly through the prism of complex data processing arrangements), sector-specific regulation, and the commercialisation of intangible assets. His AI/ML work straddles regulatory, governance, commercial and wider risk management support for major developers and deployers.
Raza has commented extensively on the emerging data and technology laws across the GCC and he helps contextualise global trends around data protection and data security. He is regularly consulted by law makers on “pro-business” legal and regulatory initiatives (including in respect of data processing) in various countries in the Middle East and Africa. He has been recognised as a leading lawyer in his fields by major directories for several years.
