Dr. Saravanan Thirumuruganathan is an Associate Professor of Practice at MBZUAI.He is also involved in the Masters in Applied AI (MAAI) program, specializing in equipping UAE professionals with fundamental AI knowledge, practical projects, and industry experience.

A seasoned expert in bridging data management and machine/deep learning, Dr. Thirumuruganathan has significant experience applying advanced AI techniques across critical domains, including cyber security, databases, natural language processing, fairness, data integration, and social networks.

With a prolific output of over 80 peer-reviewed publications and an active role as a Program Committee member for leading conferences, his work is at the forefront of the AI research community. Adding to his academic and research credentials, he is a successful entrepreneur, having co-founded three startups in diverse domains such as MLaaS, BFSI, and AI consulting.

Dr. Thirumuruganathan brings his dual expertise in pioneering research and practical application to the stage, with extensive experience in teaching complex Machine Learning concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences so that they can harness ML for practical, ethical, and scalable solutions.
